Privacy Policy

The short version

We make two kinds of apps, and they have two different privacy stories. Rather than one vague page for everything, here is each story told plainly.

Toy & learning apps (Cash Register Toy, Toddlers Cash Register, Cash Register For Kids, Kids Toy Kiosk, Sir Dress-a-Lot, Money Pit!, Flash Add, Flash Subtract, Flash Multiply, Fast Multiplication, AddingForKids, Multiplying Multiples, Spelling with Bear, Kids Writing Pad, Writing Pad, PopQuiz TV, 9 Quiz): no accounts, no ads, no tracking, no data collection. Everything — high scores, saved writing pages, dress-up creations — stays on your device. Deleting the app deletes it all. That is the whole policy for these apps.

Discovery apps (The Playground App, The Castle App, The Waterfall App, Christmas Markets) and Walk Me To Sleep: these are free apps that use your location to show nearby places, accept photo uploads, and use third-party analytics. The full disclosure below applies to them — and only to them.

Discovery apps: full disclosure

Location

• We use your device location only while the app is open, to search for playgrounds, castles, waterfalls or markets near you.
• Location is sent to our search backend to run the "nearby" query. Query coordinates are logged without device identifiers, for debugging only.
• We never share or sell location data, we never show any user's location to any other user, and there is no live-location or family-tracking feature in any of our apps.

Photos

• Playground/castle/market photo galleries are public. Anyone using the app can see uploaded photos.
• Photos with identifiable minors are rejected before publishing. Uploads are reviewed by a human moderator before appearing — please photograph the place, not the people. As an additional backstop, you can report a photo or request removal: privacy@bearswithapps.com; we remove reported photos within 24 hours pending review.
• Uploads require no account; we store the photo and upload timestamp, not your name.

Badges and progress

Passport badges and progress live on your device only. There are no leaderboards, no profiles, and no sharing of achievements with anyone.

Third-party services — named

You can opt out of analytics and attribution in Settings → Privacy inside each discovery app.

Walk Me To Sleep

Subscription is billed and stored by Apple/Google, not us. Same analytics disclosure as above. No microphone access; no sleep data leaves your device.

Retention

• Analytics/usage events: up to 24 months, then deleted.
• Crash reports: up to 12 months.
• Uploaded photos: until you ask us to remove them.
• Location queries: logged without device identifiers, for debugging only.

Children's privacy

Our toy and learning apps collect nothing, from anyone, of any age. Our discovery apps are designed for parents planning outings; children's use should be with a parent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; the photo-moderation rule above exists specifically to keep children out of public galleries. If you believe a child's information reached us, email privacy@bearswithapps.com and we will delete it.

Deletion and your rights

• Toy/learning apps: uninstalling deletes everything — there is nothing on our servers.
• Discovery apps: email privacy@bearswithapps.com to delete analytics data tied to your device identifier or remove photos you uploaded; completed within 30 days.
• We never sell personal data.

Who can see what

Playground, castle and market photos you upload are visible to anyone using the app. Location queries and analytics events are visible only to us, in aggregate, and only as described in the table above. Nothing is visible to other users beyond public photo galleries.
